How do you store seeds long term?

I just finished putting a seed vault together and wanted to compare notes with the other growers here.

My setup is a Pelican case with labelled vials, silica gel to keep humidity down, and cold storage. Every seed gets a code that tracks year, type, and male/female counts using a PG-YYYY-TYPE-MxF# format, so when I open the case years down the line I know exactly what each vial holds without guessing.

A few things I still have not settled:

- What temperature do you run your cold storage at?
- Do you dry the seeds before sealing them, and how long?
- How much silica gel per vial is actually enough?

I also keep a written record of where each plant grew, what the season was like, and how it came out. For me that matters as much as the cold itself, because a seed is only worth keeping if you remember why you kept it.

I put a walkthrough of the full setup on my channel recently. But I would rather hear what has actually worked for you, and what has survived longest in your own storage.
